When the connector you need doesn’t exist.

How to assess a missing MCP or one that only covers part of your software.

A missing connector is only the first clue

Sometimes the product has no MCP. Sometimes an existing connector only offers a handful of actions, omits useful fields or makes the jobs your team needs awkward.

Start by describing the work. Which records do you need? Do you only need to read information, or do you need supported changes as well? A specific workflow makes a better brief than a request for “full integration”.

The provider’s API sets the practical boundary

An MCP connector works through the access a provider makes available. API documentation, account plans, permissions, rate limits and approval requirements determine what can be built.

An aftermarket connector can offer a different experience or more documented operations. It cannot legitimately bypass the provider’s permissions or promise an operation the API does not expose.

Look past the tool count

Two connectors can count tools differently. One may expose an operation for each API route; another may group many operations behind a search and execution interface. The larger number is not automatically the better product.

Check the fields you need, how filters are handled, whether large records or files are supported and what happens when a request fails. Ask which workflows have actually been tested against an authorised account.

Send us a brief with useful detail

Tell us the software name and website, the job you want to do and which AI assistant you want to use. Include API documentation if you have it, along with any known account or approval requirements.

Explain what an existing connector cannot do for you. Please do not send API keys, passwords or private customer records. We can discuss authorised access separately if the work proceeds.

Connector status and permissions matter. Our examples describe intended workflows, not a claim that live provider business acceptance is complete.
